Hokkien mee
Since I'm from Singapore, one of my favourite Singaporean dishes is Hokkien mee. It can be found in both Singapore and Malaysia, so it is technically a very famous dish which is usually sold in hawker centres.
The dish consists of many ingredients, such as: rice noodles, egg, prawns, pork, squid, vegetables, lard :) and lime.
Types:
- Hokkien black mee
- Hokkien fried mee
Differences:
Hokkien black mee:
- Is commonly served in Penang and Singapore
Hokkien fried mee:
- Is commonly served in KL (Kuala Lumpur) and Klang Valley
Usually, in Hokkien mee, the main dishes are egg, prawns and squid, and sometimes maybe even fish cake.
The lime juice from the lime gives the dish even more flavour, which is why Singaporeans enjoy it the most with lime.
