Chocolate brownies

Brownies

A brownie is a squarish, flat cake dessert. It is a mixture of cake and cookies and comes in different shapes and sizes, mostly in a square shape.

They usually have a heavy texture, and might include nuts, chocolate fudge, or chocolate chips. Brownies are meant to be eaten by hand, and accompanied with a warm drink, normally tea, coffee, or warm milk.
They are found only in coffee shops (cafes) and restaurants. In restaurants, they are always served as desserts.

Pana cotta

Pana cotta

Pana Cotta is an Italian dessert of sweetened cream thickened with gelatin and molded. They come in many flavourings (rum, coffee, vanilla, etc.)

Italian Chefs make pana cotta by dissolving sugar in warm cream. They flavour the cream by infusing spices into the cream. They soften the gelatin into cold liquid, then pour the mixture into molds.

Pana cotta is often served with fruits (like strawberries and blueberries) to add more flavour to it.

Quiche

Quiche

Quiche (pronounced keesh) is a delicious, open-faced pastry crust with:

  • custard
  • cheese
  • meat
  • seafood
  • vegetables
Quiche is from France and is particularly a French cuisine but is also famous in other countries (mostly America), but more of a celebrative food.

Quiche may be taken from the German word Kuchen meaning 'cake' or 'tart'. Quiche may be from France, but English people discovered quiche in around the 14th century.

Shiitake mushrooms

Shiitake mushrooms

Shiitake mushrooms (Japanese name: 椎茸) is an edible mushroom about the size of three fingers, which is very popular among Asians. It's scientific name is Agaricus edodes, and the fungus comes from Japan.

I like to eat shiitake mushrooms with melted cheese and ground beef under its cap, and they are known for its capability of producing medicine, especially traditional medicine.

They have been used by the Chinese for more than 6,000 years to produce herbal medicine. Their rich, smoky flavour makes them even more popular to Americans and Australians.

It is just like any other normal mushroom except that it is not a vegetable, but a fungus.

Chinese New Year food!!!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't updated my blog in so long. Anyway, today's topic is about:

Chinese New Year Foods

There are lots of different CNY (Chinese New Year) Foods, but here are 3 of the most popular CNY goodies among Chinese people:

  • Yuzu Pineapple tarts
Pineapple tarts are amazing. They are crumbly on the outside, and sweet inside. They are popular because of their salty outer crust, and their sweet inside pineapple mix.

  • Walnut and longan pineapple pastries
Instead of pineapple tarts, chefs have baked a creative dish for us to enjoy. This pastry replaces the pineapple tarts with longan and walnut for a stronger and better flavour to be enjoyed more by people.

  • Mandarin orange lava cakes
Last but not least, the lava cakes. This cake is just like any ordinary lava cake, like a chocolate lava cake. But instead of chocolate, an orange-flavoured liquid replaces the sweet taste. The orange-coloured bun is being steamed and filled with orange paste to fill the steamed bun with a sweeter taste, sweeter than chocolate.(just kidding :))
